INFORMATIONAL LETTER
Widener University IRB Protocol Number # 38-11
Thank you for your interest in this study. This letter is to help you decide whether to take the survey. You must be a woman, gender diverse or trans person who is sexually intimate with women. You must be at least 18 years old.
The purpose of this study is to better understand the sexuality of women and gender diverse people who are sexually intimate with women. Sexual behavior and identity will be measured. The survey will take about 25 minutes to complete.
Taking the survey is voluntary. There is no penalty to not take it. The study is anonymous, meaning there will be no way to trace any questions or data back to you or your computer.
There is no direct benefit in taking the survey. You will not receive payment. You may enter into a drawing to win 1 of 3 $100 gift cards. The cards are to thank you for your time. If you choose, you may enter an email address at the end of the survey. To protect privacy, all entrees will be stored completely separate from the survey data. Email address will in no way be linked back to survey answers. If you choose to not enter to win a gift card that is okay too.
You may feel some discomfort with questions. Since some are sexually explicit, it is suggested you complete the survey in a private location. No serious risks should occur from taking part in this study. You may refuse to participate in the survey. However, your research records cannot be destroyed once responses are submitted.
Survey results will be stored on a secure, password protected online server for one year. Confidentiality will be protected. No one will be able to identify participants or link any information or answers back to you. The researcher has no way of knowing who you are.
All data for this study will be kept confidential. Widener University’s IRB may review the data. The IRB is the committee who approves solicitation of participants. Neither Widener University nor anyone funding this research will provide services, free care, or compensation for any grievances regarding this research.
